Public Policy Process

The Politics of Climate Change

This course will focus on the political aspects of climate policy design, enactment, and implementation at the global, national, state, and local levels. The purpose of the course is to help students develop a nuanced understanding of the ideas and institutions that structure climate policy debates, as well as the mechanisms by which actors within and outside of government obtain, wield, and maintain power in the climate policy arena. To this end, students will engage with the latest climate politics research from political science, sociology, economics, and public administration scholars.
